Land of Oz
In December 2005 I worked with Pyramid Productions on their panto ‘Land of Oz’, which toured during the festive season to schools and social clubs around London and the Home Counties.
I effectively played two roles; the young heroine Dorothy Gale, who is swept off into a magical land and must face many dangers before she can find her way home to Kansas, and also Toto, her trusty dog; in reality a very cuddly hand puppet (oops, don’t tell the children!)
The schedule was tiring at times with plenty of early starts, and I seemed to spend much more time driving the van than actually performing! But we visited some lovely schools and had so much fun with the kids, who clearly enjoyed themselves, that of course it was all more than worth it in the end!
